Xi'an: Voted in Lonely Planet's Top Ten Asian Destinations
Xi’an’s diverse heritage is supreme…and then there’s the biggie: the Army of Terracotta Warriors, celebrating 30 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017.
Xi’an is vast, but a relaxed tempo reigns and recent openings have boosted an already superb accommodation market; throw in a crop of new bars and cafes plus the 72-hour visa-free policy.
There’s never been a better time to visit.
Keeping Fit In Xi'an
All's Fair In Love and EF4!
EF4 staff got away from their classrooms recently to show some aggression towards their colleagues. The paintballing contest was a very one sided affair with members of Team Batcake crying foul.
"Our guns were completely useless. It was such a stitch-up!" said John Cooper, often known as a man quick to blame his tools.
Xi'an in Pictures (by David Sidoux)
Hi there,
My name is David. I’ve been living here in Xi’an for about 5 years. I currently work at school 3 located near the Jiao Da University campus. I’ve been into photography for a few years and it’s something I like doing during my time off.
I enjoy walking around Xi’an during my days off; it’s also easy to find parts of the city that are full of charm.
I mainly enjoy taking pictures of people. There are many scenes in Xi’an that I think are worth taking in photo and that depict a more personal side to the city and to life in China in general. There are often people playing board games in the parks, people sleeping (everywhere), children playing and people dancing or singing. It certainly adds to the charm of the city which is something that can be easily overlooked.
I hope that despite modernization, Xi’an will keep these scenes, which I believe are the reason I’ve been here for so many years.
EF5 Grand Opening Weekend
This week saw the opening of our long anticipated Qu Jiang Center in the southeast of Xi'an.
School 5 sits in the beautiful Qu Jiang district; home to the famous Big Goose Pagoda and South Lake Park.
The launch was a great success with record numbers of new student sign-ups. Thank you to all those involved and we look forward to starting classes soon!

Fright Night Comes To EF Xi'an
Kids and parents were invited to test their nerves at the annual Halloween Kid's Party held at each of our schools last month.
Students were led through our Haunted Schools to complete a series of spooky activities led by zombie teachers. No one left empty handed as kids crammed their pockets with cookies, cakes and candies.
